Alright, I just have to weigh in because I remember exactly what you are going through. I agree with comment #1 - my pediatrition recommended @ my 2 week appointment that I eliminate dairy from my diet and see if that made a difference...and it did! Quinn eventually grew out of the milk intolerance by a couple of months, but that seemed to be the problem at the beginning. Also, my pediatrition said that Mylicon is safe to use at every feeding. He said that it's worth trying to see if it will help...and if nothing else, it may help you to feel better about things knowing you gave him something to feel better. Good luck friend!
-Liz McDonaldAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-42406699225585050962009-09-14T21:17:49.454-06:002009-09-14T21:17:49.454-06:00All of your worries is a sure sign of a good mama!...All of your worries is a sure sign of a good mama! Schedules are wonderful but the other person who said at this stage there really isn't much scheduling was right too. Until 6 weeks you kind of just go with the flow because you both are getting used to this HUGE life change and really all they do is eat, sleep, and poop right? Good Luck! You can do it, you're already doing great! The Beckstromshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10032710501605720800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-28455793944568996332009-09-13T22:19:29.243-06:002009-09-13T22:19:29.243-06:00Oh how PRESH!! :) He is so cute! Being a mom is grea...Oh Marianne, he is adorable!! Being a mom is great and as you are finding out there is a lot to learn. Everyone is different but here are a few suggestion about things that worked for us. If you are worried about the car seat I would recommend getting on of those mirrors you attach to the back seat so you can see your child. We loved it because that way we knew if Liz's head was OK or if she needed to be readjusted. Just make sure you use it at stop lights, etc so you are a safe driver. As for the Mylicon, my doctor told me it's not something their body can become dependent on so I wouldn't worry too much about using it. Pumping the legs helped with Liz. I never really noticed a difference when I used the Mylicon either. It does seem to work for Liz now, but not so much when she was tiny. They just have immature digestive systems and it takes awhile for thing to work smoothly. Hang in there with the breastfeeding. It gets better I promise. If you do continue to use the Mylicon just know that the Equate brand works the same and you get twice the amount for the same price. My last suggestion is to read, On Becoming Baby Wise. It's a book about getting your baby on a schedule and sleeping through the night. I didn't follow it exactly but I did take a lot of good things from it and it was a life saver. Routines are good/comforting for kids so I think the sooner you can get some kind of schedule down the better life is for both parent and child. Good luck with everything, your doing great and it all works out.Scott, Kelly, Liz, Loganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03795739400733166871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-43833281711744855932009-09-13T20:27:48.231-06:002009-09-13T20:27:48.231-06:00By the way, that was me, Mar. :)By the way, that was me, Mar. :)Tyler Briggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04661257885425937136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-21205010394972439892009-09-13T20:27:28.941-06:002009-09-13T20:27:28.941-06:00Little MC. You seem like such a baby to me still.....Little MC. You seem like such a baby to me still...aren't you still cheering at KJH?! :) You are a beautiful mommy and I am Super excited for you and your upcoming adventures. A couple of comments:
I didn't leave the house for 2 weeks straight (first outing was to the doctors :) ) I promise you will get used to it.
I used gripe water but Harrison was still fussy for the first few months. I did eat dairy. I heard from a friend that your baby is more likely to be lactose intolerant if you go off dairy completely. Ask your doctor. :) That's just heresay.
Honestly, just feed the little one, if they'll accept it, because I don't think they have a schedule when they're so little and I think they are hungry lots. Breastmilk goes through them quickly. The breastfeeding WILL get better. Stick with it. I LOVED it and was sad when I finally quit.
Love you MC. I really am so happy for you and Chris. There's nothing better in the world than being a parent.Tyler Briggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04661257885425937136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-44620399455579441522009-09-13T15:01:36.349-06:002009-09-13T15:01:36.349-06:00mar your little boy is absolutely gorgeous!!!! i d...mar your little boy is absolutely gorgeous!!!! i don't think i've ever seen a newborn that handsome! usually they look kind of rat like until after a month but he is beautiful! congratulations! we love you guys!
xoxomere/tay(xoxo)https://www.blogger.com/profile/09154623753172809929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-55283434002691342382009-09-12T23:16:50.549-06:002009-09-12T23:16:50.549-06:00he is so handsome!! you will figure it all out, yo...he is so handsome!! you will figure it all out, you rock. i am so happy for you and your little family.Kelli Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02423349414031618207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301114321443214769.post-34765995671449356492009-09-12T23:01:13.414-06:002009-09-12T23:01:13.414-06:00Adorable baby Mare! I use the drops and it is a RELIEF. It works almost instantly. Obviously we only use it when he has gas and is screaming in pain. It is heartbreaking to listen to him scream like that, so I have no problems giving him the gas drops, especially since it helps him. Keep the updated pictures coming! Fussy = no dairy. B...You won't like my comment. Fussy = no dairy. Babies have a hard time with dairy and I had to completely stop eating any dairy at all or Annie would cry and cry and cry. They usually grow out of it but my pediatrician told me that almost all babies have at least some intolerance to cow's milk when they are born and nearly all colicy babies are actually just milk intolerant. So try laying off dairy, and that means EVERYTHING, and see what happens. You have to give it 3 days they told me but I saw a difference within 24 hours. Yes it's horrible, I did it for 4 months, but it works. Cheese and chocolate were especially bad for Annie. But I was able to eat baked goods after a couple weeks of nothing. Good luck! And remember it's ok to put him in his crib and let him cry. Sometimes even the best parents just need a little break. The Beckstromshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10032710501605720800noreply@blogger.com
