Opening Day!

Even though technically the season started yesterday, today is opening day in Major League Baseball. All the so-called experts at ESPN have the Angels or the A's winning the AL East. These same fools also picked the Red Sox to win the World Series last year. Let's just say baseball is not always so predictable. That's what I love about it. The Mariners could win it all. Their first game is tonight against the Twins. I love baseball.
As a bonus, the man with the best swing in baseball is back with the M's: Ken Griffey, Jr. I idolized Junior growing up and even learned to bat left-handed because of him. It's too bad he'll be just a shadow of his former self. The whole steroids issue with Bonds and A-Rod would be a moot point if Griffey had stayed healthy his entire career. He's 5th all-time! What could have been.I'm hoping he'll hit around 30 bombs, get around 90 RBIs and hit .290. He'll never make catches like this one again. He broke his wrist catching that ball. Seriously, he was such a good player. There's always a new hope at the beginning of the season. The M's were 61-101 last year, so we can only go up from there. Hopefully.

UPDATE: Ken Griffey Jr. 1-3, HR, BB. Nice start. Seattle wins 6-1.
