The Graduate

Well, after ten semesters and just over three years, Marianne has graduated from the University of Utah in Exercise & Sport Science. We came to Seattle for Christmas and she had but one assignment remaining: a paper discussing renal (kidney) disease which she banged out in just a couple days. I am so proud of her. She's never taken a semester off (she went during all the summer semesters) and she has almost always given her all to learn the material (everybody does just enough to get by sometimes). She even got a 4.0 once. Here's a picture of the graduate:Now she will be transferring to Weber State University to finish up the prerequisites for Dental Hygiene school and then get that professional license. Such dedication. I, however, still have one semester remaining.

Stupid Templates

I used to consider myself up-to-date when it came to technology, but I have discovered that my knowledge stops at html coding, or any kind of computer coding for that matter. Here is the most recent example: I changed my template to a more wintery theme. Even though I followed the instructions of the template blog I lost my blog list, which apparently is what they meant when they said "widget". So, I had to find and re-add all my favorite blogs! stupid. (So if I forgot you please leave me a comment so I have your address.) Why did this happen? How can I make it not happen again? Also, I like this template, but why does it have 3 columns? I wish I could make it only have 2 columns so there isn't empty wasted space over there.

Late Twenties

Chris chose this pose for his birthday post. Chris entered the world of the "late twenties" yesterday at 3:42 pm. Surprisingly, he was still as lively and energetic as always, but I'm sure he'll start needing to take more frequent naps soon.

November almost gone.

Yes, it is true. Mom and Erica both broke their fingers. Erica broke hers Monday playing football (the same way she broke her clavicle) and my mother broke hers running up the stairs. SAD, but awesome at the same time.

This is Abby and I after our last performance of the Nutcracker this year. She was my snooty little daughter and was wonderful. Yes, the makeup is excessive. It is how I make up for not wearing makeup the rest of the year.

The Dickson girls and me! This was taken at Brooke's wedding, it was so fun and she was beautiful.

A snapshot of the Bride and Groom.

The entire Dickson Fam-i-lie! "Precious"

Happy Thanksgiving.

Weightlifting

For those of you who did not know, I am planning on competing in weightlifting in the Utah Summer Games in June. I made a little video in case you were curious what that is. Weightlifting consists of 2 lifts: the snatch and the clean & jerk. In the snatch you bring the weight from the floor to overhead in one move (the first clip in the video is a snatch). In the clean & jerk, the clean is when you bring the weight from the ground to the shoulders and the jerk is taking it from the shoulders to overhead (the second and third clips are a clean and a jerk, respectively). My technique isn't great and I'm not an extremely strong person but I love it and it gives me something to train for and work toward. I may post another video when I get some really good clips, probably closer to the competition. Hopefully I'll be much better by then. The other clips are some different ancillary lifts and some misses as well. The song is by Emery and it’s called Walls. You probably won’t like the screaming. Enjoy.

Denver Zoo

When we were in Denver a few weeks ago, we went to the Denver Zoo. These were the cutest little baby animals. This first video is of an energetic baby giraffe.

This is a video of red pandas, or "firefox" is their nickname. It's kind of long, but they are so cute and little. It was surprisingly how gingerly they moved around on the rock, because we are used to seeing the adults who are so agile and quick.

What a Crazy Morn

That's right. I woke up this morning and there was SNOW outside. Marianne had me take some pictures. Absolutely insane. The temperature dropped like 20 degree from last weekend. Anyway, here are some pictures. By the way, if you have not seen the movie "Hook," you have missed out and I would recommend you view it soon.

Harold Judd Mace

This last Thursday my family (without Dad or Chris) drove down to Kanab, UT to attend my Great Grandpa's Funeral. It was very cool to see the town that he called home. We saw the Post Office where he worked, the Perry Lodge where my grandparents got married, and the ranch where they took summer vacations when my mom was growing up.

Aunt Florence, Grandma Adams, and Grandpa Mace.

Sarah, Grandpa Mace, and Mom.

Kelsey, Erica, Clark, and I at the Kanab Cemetary.

This is the headstone where Grandpa's first wife Grace
(who died on my birthday) and Grandpa are now buried.

I wish we could have stayed longer (so Mark wouldn't have called me a Fun Murderer), but we had to head back to Provo, because Chris' mission reunion was that night.
Chris' mission President and his wife do not speak English. It was a very weird experience for me to not understand them at all when they were talking to me. Chris did a lot of translating that night.

Designs by Kelsey

My sis Kelsey had her first big Boutique for her jewelry today. It was so fun to peruse around and see what everybody got.

Bracelets on display.

This is one of my favorite bracelets!

There were 4 tables of them. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings.

When Clark got home from school he wanted to watch Heroes and so decided to move the table. This video is kind of long, but hilarious to me and Kels. Clark starts singing at the end not realizing that I am still filming. I apologize for the shakiness, but I was laughing.

September in a Nutshell

September has been a fun and very busy month for us Moody's. Being busy really makes the weeks fly by and before you know it, it is almost October! Here is our picture journal.

Labor Day Rain

Yes, I know we haven't posted in a while. You know with school starting and stuff our lives have not been incredibly exciting. However, we have been having fun with the Photo Booth application on our mac. (Big thanks to Alisha for all the fun!) Here are just a few.

Get Ready to Cry

Thank you Kelly Alder for sending me this video, I watch it everyday and it makes me cry.

LAKE POWELL!!

Here are only a FEW of the hundreds of pictures we took while at Lake Powell last week. What a blessing to be able to spend an entire week with my family. I love them very much. Enjoy.

Snapshots of Summer

While trying to post some pictures of my last few weeks of summer I realized how many videos I take now, instead of pictures. And I can't figure out how you people put videos on from "blogger" I only know how to do it from YouTube.com and it is too late at night for me to go through all of that now. So, maybe next week.

Pine View! (Erica, Andrew, Chris, Me)
Eating lunch at Pine View.
Clark has lots of sweat to keep his hair in place after a long HOT game.
Sherrie and I at the Bishop's Farewell Party. (I know I look ginormous, but I swear I am normal sized and Sherrie is teeny weeny.)
Pine View. In this picture you can see how muddy the water was for a few yards. And now we're off to Lake Powell, so have a good week everybody.

Tooth Acres

One thing that we have been doing for fun this summer is swimming at Grandma's house (where we live in the basement). It is really fun to just swim for 30 minutes at night if nobody else is over, especially when Grandma keeps the heater pumping all day and it is 88 degrees in the pool.

Exercise Physiology Lab

These are a few pictures of our last experiment in my Exercise Physiology Lab.  We cycled for 20 minutes in the heat chamber (100 degrees F) at 50% of our VO2max.  Chris came in every 5 minutes to check heart rate.

Bleeding Love

I am really not a So You Think You Can Dance addict, but I happened to be watching the episode where this lyrical hip hop was performed. It gives me goose bumps every time I watch it.

Marianne Oh Marianne

My Uncle Bob made up this song and played it at our most recent family party.  He made it up as if he were Erica.  Get it?  It is to the tune of "Maryann - Down by the Sea Shore"

Marianne oh Marianne, you're marrying some guy,
Marianne we've thought about it, and we don't know why,
Marianne oh Marianne how happy you would be,
If you would marry Kelsey, Clark, and me.

All day, all night, Marianne, you're go'n a be
changing diapers, washing pots and pans,
Marianne oh Marianne how happy you would be,
If you would marry Kelsey, Clark, and me.

Marianne oh Marianne oh won't you marry us?
We would be you groceries and tokens for the bus,
Marianne oh Marianne how happy you would be,
If you would marry Kelsey, Clark, and me.

All day, all night, Marianne, you're go'n a be
changing diapers, washing pots and pans,
Marianne oh Marianne how happy you would be,
If you would marry Kelsey, Clark, and me

We would even build you a house up in a tree,
Or if you wanted to we'd build you a big teepee,
Or even better, we could all live with David and Leslie.

Knowing the tune to the song would make this better, but even standing alone I would say it's pretty good.  Thanks Bob.  -MC

Matthew Gary Carter Pierce Day

Today we had the pleasure of hanging out with Matthew Gary Carter Pierce. He joined us for lunch and dinner, wrestled with Chris 3 times, watched Matlock with us, learned how to strum the guitar with Chris, helped us fix two bike tires, and if he was old enough I'm sure he would have come to the temple with us. It was so fun! Here are some pictures to share.

Dessert (candy bars) sticking on fore heads.

I took the picture just as Matt's Hershey bar fell into his cup of milk.

Love the spaghetti sauce lipstick.

Matt was genuinely interested in Chris' life stories.
